Creating better experiences and outcomes for children in care and families in crisis means looking at the system as a whole. Our Wheel of Reform outlines the key areas where we are advocating for change, aiming for meaningful, lasting reform that reflects the needs and strengths of those most affected.
Too many families reach crisis point without the help they need. We believe in tackling loneliness and isolation early by investing in community-based support that strengthens relationships and prevents unnecessary separation.
Every child deserves stability and a sense of belonging. We are committed to making adoption more accessible, inclusive and responsive to the lifelong needs of adopted children and their families.
Teenagers in care often face stigma and a lack of suitable placements. We advocate for a care system that values teenagers, offering safe, consistent relationships and support through adolescence and into adulthood.
There is a growing shortage of foster carers, and the system is struggling to keep up. We’re working to remove barriers and attract more people into fostering, with better training, support and recognition for carers.
We want to see a care system that is built to last, with children’s needs at its core. That means creating more sustainable, transparent structures that prioritise stability, quality and care over short-term gains or fragmented provision.
While there is still work to be done across many of the areas we care deeply about, we are encouraged by the progress we’ve seen. Over the years, meaningful shifts in policy and practice have taken place in areas such as early intervention, fostering, supported lodgings and adoption. These changes reflect the impact of sustained advocacy and collaboration, and they give us real hope for what’s possible when we invest in lasting, systemic improvement.
