Stu Dendy and Dave Kingswood share updates, encouragements, and prayer points related to Home for Good’s work across the South-West.

Did it feel like the summer took a while to turn up? You will be aware that the South West finally got some sunshine and when it came it was glorious especially if you were at one of the many festivals across the region. For those of you who came and said hello to us at the various stands that we hosted at these events it was so good to see you. Thank you for the ongoing support!

Recent Highlights

In June, we were blessed to participate in CVM’s The Gathering 2024 and to have Tarn (our CEO) share with the delegates the vision of Home for Good and even some of her own story. Much interest was generated and our stand was buzzing.

In Redruth, at Bethel Community Church, Dave joined Ruth Gunn and a number of others for a vision event for North Cornwall. There were many testimonies, and we are excited to see how the Lord leads next to find more foster carers across the area.

In July, we had a stall at the New Wine Festival in Shepton Mallet, where there were thousands of attendees. Thank you to all our volunteers who helped us engage with the many people who visited our stall throughout the week. A highlight was our Walk with Me event, which we had on the Monday. Over 120 people joined us to walk a mile in the shoes of all the children who are coming into the care system. Everyone was given a green "Who cares" t-shirt – it made a real impression across the festival site. We finished up with a Jude's ice cream, which was kindly donated by the company. This was an encouraging and fruitful time which God clearly blessed.

Keeping with the Walk with Me theme, Dave recently completed a 10-mile run, and Stu went with some family and friends for a long-ish walk along a local canal as he begins to clock up as many miles as possible (hopefully 60)! It’s not too late to sign up and take part, so why not click the link and show your support for children who have to walk the difficult journey through care.

Another highlight has to be the recent addition of five new Volunteers to our South West team - 2 in BANES and three in other parts of the region. They’ve all completed their training and are now able to Champion the work of Home for Good. You are very welcome to the team!

What’s coming up?

Dave is speaking at All Saints Weston in Bath in the Autumn as well as the Filling Station, which is a local Bath meeting of the national network.

Stu is speaking at New Life Church on the edge of the New Forest, Clevedon Baptist Church in North Somerset, and Branch Community Church in Bristol.

What can I be praying for?

We would love you to stand with us in prayer as we continue to work to find a home for every child who needs one in the South West.

Please continue to pray for our ‘Who Cares’ Campaign, that many people would stand to say ‘I Care’ and get involved
Please pray for renewed interest in BANES, Wiltshire, Bristol and BCP, for people to consider the incredible world of fostering, particularly when there is such a high need in our region
Please pray for more speaking opportunities, across the South West, during the autumn
