Ready to Launch
Every young person in the care system should be supported to launch into adulthood and their future.
It's not rocket science.
Every young person in the care system is brimming with potential. Home for Good believes that supported lodgings can enable more of these young people to feel ready to launch into their future. We are launching a campaign to make this vision a reality.
Take a look at our campaign video:
For too long we’ve been dialling down in supporting young people. Now is the time to do more for them: we want to double up for young people over the next three years.
By 2025, we want to:
Double the number of young people living in supported lodgings in England.
1000
In 2021, there were 1000 young people in supported lodgings.
2000
By 2025 we want to see 2000 young people in supported lodgings.
Double the number of hosts ready and waiting to welcome young people through supported lodgings.
1000
In 2021, there were 1000 hosts supporting young people through supported lodgings.
2000
By 2025 we want to see 2000 hosts supporting young people through supported lodgings.
Double the awareness of supported lodgings among the general public.
30%
In 2021 only 30% of the general public have heard of supported lodgings.
60%
By 2025 we want 60% of the general public to know what supported lodgings is.
Support all local authorities to operate a scheme so that supported lodgings can be offered as an option to every young person in care.
25%
In 2021 25% of local authorities do not operate a supported lodgings scheme and cannot offer this option to young people.
100%
By 2025, we want every local authority to be able to offer young people the option to live in supported lodgings by running a scheme.
Let’s dream bigger and demand better for young people in care, so that every teenager is prepared and supported to launch into adulthood.

"As the Member of Parliament for South West Bedfordshire, I believe that a safe and loving home environment is key to enabling every young person to reach their potential. I have seen first-hand that supported lodgings can be a positive option for many young people in care and am pleased to support the ‘Ready to Launch’ campaign. I would encourage everyone to consider whether they could support a young person in this way."
– Andrew Selous, MP for South West Bedfordshire

"Every child needs adults in their life who are committed to them and this is especially true for teenagers as they navigate the important and often complex journey towards adulthood. I recognise that supported lodgings can provide this for many more young people in the care system and am delighted to support the ‘Ready to Launch’ campaign."
– Lord McColl of Dulwich

Our latest update – March 2024
In early 2024, we have been analyising the latest data along with our FOI requests conducted in 2020 and 2021 respectively. We are delighted to report that the number of local authorities offering supported lodgings has risen by 38% since 2021. Which means an additional 3,900 16 – 17-year-olds in care are living in areas of the country where supported lodgings is offered.
